Official rules
The FilmIndustry Challenge No. 1: “The Last Take”. No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win.
1. Who runs it
The Challenge is run by SiteTools, Inc. d/b/a FilmIndustry.com (“FilmIndustry.com”, “we”), which runs FilmIndustry.com. These rules work alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; where they differ, these rules apply to the Challenge.
2. Who can enter
Teams of 1 to 20 people. Everyone on a team must have a verified FilmIndustry.com account, which means they're 18 or older and live in the United States. A person can be on one team per challenge. Our employees and their households can't win awards. The Challenge is void where prohibited.
3. Dates
Registration opens . The line of dialogue and the prop are revealed, and filming may begin, at . Films are due by . Voting closes . Times are shown in your timezone; our clock decides.
4. The film
- Runs 3:00 to 5:00 (minutes:seconds), including credits.
- Is a new work made entirely between the start and the deadline. Writing ideas in your head beforehand is fine; scripting, shooting and editing before the start are not.
- Uses all three ingredients: the genre your team drew, the line of dialogue (spoken or shown, word for word), and the prop (seen on screen).
- Uses only music, footage, artwork and other material the team made, has a licence for, or is royalty-free for this use. No copyrighted songs without a licence.
- Everyone who appears agreed to be in it. Anyone under 18 who appears needs a signed release from a parent or guardian, which the team keeps and gives us if we ask.
- Doesn't break our Terms: no hateful or sexually explicit content, nothing illegal, nothing that defames or invades the privacy of a real person.
- Is submitted by the team lead as a YouTube or Vimeo link (unlisted is fine) that stays up until the winners are announced.
5. Your rights in your film
Your team keeps every right to its film. By submitting, the team gives FilmIndustry.com a free, non-exclusive licence to show the film (by embedding the link you gave us), its title, stills and credits on FilmIndustry.com and in posts about the Challenge, for as long as the Challenge pages are up. You can withdraw the film by removing the video or emailing us; it then stops being eligible for awards. How your team shares credit, ownership and any future earnings is between your team members; we suggest recording it with an agreement on your team page. FilmIndustry.com never takes a share.
6. Judging and awards
- Jury Prize: picked by a guest judge for storytelling, craft and use of the ingredients.
- Audience Award: the film with the most votes. Each verified member gets one vote per challenge and can't vote for their own team. Ties share the award. We remove votes we believe are fake or bought, and may disqualify a team that solicits them.
- Best Use of the Line: picked by our team.
Awards are recognition: a featured spot on the home page, an award badge on each team member's profile and a digital certificate. Prizes have no cash value and FilmIndustry.com does not pay money to entrants. If a sponsor offers a prize, the sponsor provides it directly and any taxes on it are the winner's. Decisions of the judges and FilmIndustry.com are final.
7. Disqualification
We may disqualify a film that breaks these rules or our Terms, and we'll tell the team why. Questions or appeals: support@filmindustry.com.
8. Privacy and changes
We use your team's name, members' public profiles and your film's details to run and promote the Challenge, as described in our Privacy Policy. If something outside our control affects the Challenge, we may change dates or rules on this page and will tell registered teams.
